Meizu today started rolling out Flyme OS 5.1.3 update based on Android 5.1 Lollipop to all the MX5 smartphone users in India. The update is available via OTA (over-the-air) and is about 817MB in size. Meizu MX5 was announced in India back in August 2015 running on Flyme OS 4.5 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop and pricing at Rs. 19,999. Chinese users already received Flyme OS 5.0.0.1A stable update back in October last year.
As per Meizu, the latest Flyme OS 5.1.3 upgrade brings more than 300 features and over 1,000 enhancements. It also comes with simple system app layout, smooth transition animation, boot animation of Taj Mahal and a ringtone of India, floating notifications, multi-screen mode, optimised icons, better boot speed, enhanced battery management, and better security among others. How to update Meizu MX5 to Flyme OS 5.1.3 (Android 5.1 Lollipop) firmware:
As the company pushed the update via OTA, users will soon see a update notification popping-up on their notification bar. You can also check for latest firmware update by going to settings > About phone > System update.
If you are among those user who can’t wait for the OTA and wanted to upgrade right now, then it’s all possible. You need to download update zip file from here, copy it to the root of the phone and manually flash it by booting your MX5 smartphone into recovery mode (press and hold Volume up + power button until you see Meizu logo, then press volume up twice to enter into recovery and update).
