As expected, Xiaomi launched its latest budget devices- the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime alongside with MIUI 7 in China. Both the smartphones runs on MIUI 7 on top of Android Lollipop OS. The only difference between the Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime is internal storage and processor. The rest of the specifications are same. Currently the devices launched only for the Chinese market. Company has scheduled a event on August 19th in India to launch these devices for the Indian market.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime:
The Redmi Note 2 flaunts a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display. The company claims that the minimum brightness has been reduced to 10 times for night-time reading. There is a MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core 64-bit processor clocking at 2GHz and is coupled with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM. The smartphone offers 16GB of internal storage without microSD card support.
The Redmi Note 2 packs with a 13MP Samsung/OV rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, 5-element lens and Phase Detection autofocus. On the front, there is a 5MP OmniVision front camera with Beautify mode. It runs on MIUI 7 on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop Operating System.
The latest 5.5-inch device from Xiaomi measures just 152x76x8.25mm which is slimmer than its predecessor having dimensions of 154×78.7×9.45mm. The Redmi Note 2 will be available in both 4G and 3G variant and adds other connectivity options like dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0. A battery of 3,060 mAh capacity will be providing juice to the smartphone.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime has 32GB of internal storage and is powered with 2.2GHz MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core 64-bit processor. All the remaining specifications remains the same like of Redmi Note 2.
Price and Availability:
The handsets comes in White, Black, Pink, Brown and Light blue colors variants. Coming to pricing, the Redmi Note 2 3G priced at RMB 799 (approx. Rs. 8,000), the 4G variant priced at RMB 899 (approx. Rs. 9,000) and lastly the Redmi Note 2 Prime priced at RMB 999 (approx. Rs. 10,000).
