Micromax Canvas Magnus A117 is the mid-range Android Smartphone from Micromax and the device runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Beans and has never received the major Android updates till date. So in order to update Micromax Canvas Magnus A117, we must depend on Custom ROM’s and here we have brought CM 12 ROM, which is developed based on latest Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware. So without any further ado let’s proceed to update Micromax Canvas Magnus A117 to Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware.

Before we proceed to update Micromax Canvas Magnus A117 to Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware using CM 12 ROM, we must follow some set of instruction to prepare Micromax Canvas Magnus A117 for the update process and also to avoid interruptions in between the update process.

Pre-Requisites:

  • Backup your important data to a safe location, as we are going to install CM 12 ROM and installing it will wipe all of your data and settings.
  • Charge your device to at least 75%, to avoid it from shutting down in between the update process.
  • Enable USB Debugging on your device.
  • Install TWRP Recovery and Root Micromax Canvas Magnus A117 from here.
  • Download and install USB Drivers suitable for your device on PC from here.
  • Download and install ADB and Fastboot drivers on your PC from here.

Once you have followed all the above listed steps, you can proceed to update Micromax Canvas Magnus A117 to Android 5.0 Lollipop using CM 12 ROM.

How to update Micromax Canvas Magnus A117 to Android 5.0 Lollipop using CM 12 ROM:

Download the files from the Download Section above.

Copy both the files to the root of your SD card. Make sure not to copy them inside any folder.

Connect your device to PC and open command prompt in Fastboot folder. To do so, open the Fastboot folder and press and hold Shift key and right click anywhere inside the Fastboot folder. Now from the list of options choose open command window here.

Now in CMD type : fastboot reboot bootloader

Choose Recovery from the Bootloader menu.

Once you are in Recovery Mode, choose options to wipe data and Cache, also wipe dalvik cache.

Now choose “Install Zip from SD card” and choose the CM 12 ROM package which you have downloaded and copied earlier to your SD card.

Install the ROM package.

Once the ROM is installed, in the same way install the Google Apps Package.

Once done, choose reboot options and reboot your device.

After the device boots up you are now ready to go and enjoy Android 5.0 Lollipop on Micromax Canvas Magnus A117.
