Sony back in October promised that its entire Xperia Z series will be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. Keeping that in mind, the company at CES 2015 press conference has confirmed the time frame by which all the Xepria Z devices receives updates. All the Xperia Z series devices will gets Android 5.0 Lollipop update starting from February 2015.
Mike Fasulo, President of Sony Electronics, announced the rollout of Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its entire Xperia Z series devices. Soon, Sony’s Mobile global PR team tweeted the same information.
The list of Z series devices that would get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update include, Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.
The Google Play Edition of Sony Xperia Z Ultra already got the Lollipop update directly from the Google last month. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update brings Material Design with bold, colourful and responsive UI design, better notifications, battery saver feature, better security including Android Smart Lock, New Quick Settings, Improved networks handoffs, flexible sharing, faster, smoother, 15 new languages and more.
