After launching Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge devices in IFA 2014, Samsung has not stop to its IFA journey as company unveiled a new tablet of 8-inch display which is dubbed as Galaxy Tab Active. The tablet has been given the tag as “Ruggedized” which doesn’t mean much without water-resistance. So people looking for rugged tablets, this is one to be kept in mind while going for the one.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active features a 8-inch WXVGA (1280 x 800) LCD display with 189ppi pixel density and is powered with 1.2GHz Quad Core (unspecified chipset) processor. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS with Samsung’s TouchWiz interface on top. There is 4450 mAh battery on the back to power the tablet.
The Galaxy Tab Active comes with 1.5GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable with microSD), 3.1 MP rear camera and 1.2 MP front facing camera. The wireless connectivity includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 and GPS/GLONASS and measures dimensions of 126.2 x 213.1 x 9.75mm.
Samsung says that the tablet withstand a drop from height of 1.2-meter (approx. 4 feet) as it has protective coating, which gets much tougher when stuffled inside the custom protective cover. Since the device is IP67 certified, it can tout water resistant as well as dust resistant.

The pricing and availability of Samsung Galaxy Tab Active is not announced by the company, but it is said that the device will be available in two variants, Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi and LTE support with only 16GB internal storage and will be available only in one color, Titanium Green.
