Google on Wednesday announced three new releases of which one includes new mobile operating system and other two are new mobile hardware products. All these three releases represent Google indication for future mobile computing.
Google operating system is the first release and it has been given the name Android 5.0 Lollipop. The operating system has been discussed in detailed as Android L. Lollipop brings with it a new “Material Design” language for the UI and accompanying apps along with 5,000 new APIs for developers. The new operating system i.e, Android 5.0 Lollipop comes with a battery saving mode which makes the device to provide backup for more 90min when the users find it is running out of juice.
On coming to the hardware, Google announced two new Nexus devices. The first one is Nexus 9 which is announced in partnership with HTC. The Nexus 9 comes with a 4:3 aspect ratio screen, unlike the previous launched Nexus tablets. Thus the device would become a legitimate competitor to the iPad mini. It features a soft touch back and a metallic frame, lending a premium look and feel for the device. The tablet has 8.9” display with screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 and is powered with NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor paired with 2GB of RAM.
The HTC Nexus 9 will be priced at $399 for the 16GB Model and $479 for the 32GB model.
Google has choosen Motorola as its manufacturing partner for the next generation Nexus smartphone. The Nexus 6 comes with 6-inch display with 2560 x 1440 pixels screen resolutions and has pixel density of 496ppi. It is powered with 2.65GHz Quad Core CPU with Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset. Like Galaxy Note 4, Google latest generation Smartphone features a 3GB of RAM, 13MP f/2.0 rear camera with optical image stabilization and dual-LED flash, 2MP front facing camera for selfies and either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.
Notably, the new Smartphone runs on latest Android i.e, Android 5.0 Lollipop. The design is quite similar to that of Motorola Moto X2 Smartphone and there is two stereo speakers in the front. It packs with 3,200mAh non-removable battery just similar to that of it’s previous model (Nexus 5).
The Motorola Nexus 6 will be available in two colour variants-Midnight Blue and Cloud White. The Nexus 6 will be available on or off-contract. Off-contract pricing is listed at $649 for the 32GB model and $699 for the 64GB model.
Nexus 9 and Nexus 6 Availability:
The HTC Nexus 9 will be available for pre-order starting from October 17 and will be available to the retail outlets from November 3. On the other hand, pre-orders for Motorola Nexus 6 will begin from “late October” and retail availability in November. Google says that it will soon offer Nexus 6 through AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, US Cellular and Sprint.
