Facebook Lite, the lighter version of Facebook app was announced earlier this year which uses less internet data and works even in poor connections. Now this top app for 2G phones has been officially launched in India and Philippines.
Facebook already rolled out this light version of app in Africa and Asian countries. Some of them are Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Zimbabwe. Facebook is also looking forward to include more countries in the next coming weeks and months.
Facebook Lite is just under 1MB in size and mainly targeted people with poor internet connectivity or those are in 2G networks. The app includes all the Facebook experiences like News Feed, photos, status updates, notifications and more. But the app doesn’t have support for videos playback or locating nearby friends.
Facebook already has more than a billion users all over the world and with the introduction of this lighter app can attract more users who are minimised to poor internet connectivity.
