Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250 now can be updated to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop which is the Google latest version till date. Google announced that there will be no further Android updates for Nexus I9250 Android device. But thanks to developers, who brought Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware based custom ROM for Nexus I9250 users. Users need to download Android 5.1.1 firmware and Gapps files and then install through custom recovery.
The following guide shows how to download and install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop ROM on Nexus I9250–
Early Preparations:
- Make sure to enable SUB Debugging mode from Settings > Developer Options.
- Check the battery life, the Nexus device should be left with at least 70% to begin the firmware installation process.
- Create a backup of all the personal data in your Nexus device.
- Make sure the device has root access and have Custom Recovery installed.
Update Galaxy Nexus I9250 to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware (Custom ROM):
Step #1: Download Android 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROM and Google Apps package to your computer.
Step #2: Take standard USB cable and connect your Nexus device with computer.
Step #3: Transfer the downloaded two zip files to your device storage.
Step #4: Disconnect the handset from computer and turn off the handset.
Step #5: Now press and hold Volume up + Volume down + Power button to enter into recovery mode.
Step #6: Next select “install zip from sd card” and navigate the firmware zip file which earlier you have copied to device storage.
Step #7: Repeat the same process for installing the Google Apps package.
Step #8: Once done, go to recovery main menu and select “reboot system now”.
Step #9: The first boot takes more time than normal rebooting time. So wait for a while till the device is successful rebooted.
Step #10: Once the device boots up in normal mode, go to the path Settings > About Phone and you will notice the firmware version as Lollipop 5.1.1.
