Cyanogen partnered along with OnePlus to bring its own operating system known as Cyanogen OS which is the stock firmware for all OnePlus One smartphones across the world. Earlier this year Cyanogen signed an agreement to power the Micromax YU series devices with its Cyanogen OS. This created bitterness between the OnePlus and Cyanogen and thus resulted OnePlus launching its own OS in the name of “Oxygen OS”. The OnePlus 2, which is the newest OnePlus Android flagship smartphone runs on Oxygen OS based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.
The above image shows the tweet of Cyanogen which clearly states that Cyanogen OS 12.1 update is coming somewhere in August. The latest Cyanogen OS 12.1 update will be based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and may roll out to OnePlus, YU Yureka and Yuphoria.
The Cyanogen OS comes bundled with certain productivity apps like swift keyboard for fast charging, Boxer email client, and baton. The reports claims that Cyanogen OS will replace Chrome browser and Google calendar with its own home grown broser called Gello and boxer calendar app respectively.
