How to Root Xperia Z2 Android Phone

Xperia Z2 (D6503) running on Android 4.4.2 can be easily rooted with simple procedure. The rooting of Xperia Z2 gives access to root only apps and installation of Custom ROMs which makes the device most of it. To start rooting, check the quick pre requisites and then follow the procedure to root the Xperia Z2 Android device.

Note: This guide is for only Sony Xperia Z2 device not for any other device.

Quick Pre Requisites:

  • All the data present in your device are to be backup so that it can be restored manually.
  • Make sure that the USB Debugging Mode is enabled. This is an important step. To enable go to Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging in your android device.
  • Also make sure that the charging in your device is more than 80% so that it doesn’t power off in the middle of the update.

Root Xperia Z2 (D6503) running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat

1. Connect your device to your computer via USB

2. Download SuperSu by clicking HERE. Copy the zip archive to the root folder of your phone’s SD card.

3. Create a backup of your device for preventing of data lostage.

4. Unplug your Xperia Z2 and shut it off.

5. Boot your phone into Recovery Mode by pressing Power button and Volume Up button when the green LED activates.

6. Navigate to “install zip from SD card” and select the superSU file copied earlier in the root folder. Confirm your selection by pressing the Power Button. Do nothing until the process is complete.

7. Once the installation process is complete, return to main menu and reboots the phone.

8. The reboot of your device takes a while for the first time. So don’t panic and be patient.

9. That’s it, now you have successfully rooted your Xperia Z2 android device running KitKat.
