Kurio has Launched the “Safest Smartphone” for Kids – Details

The safest Android Smartphone for Kids is now revealed by Kurio – Specs, details.

Kurio has launched a new Android Smartphone targeted mainly towards the kids, as hinted by the company earlier in 2012. Kurio calls this device as Safest smart phone for kids. The device also has the option to allow the parents to control the way it should be used with all necessary notifications.

The smartphone is designed with several safest option like parents can control the number of minutes their child uses to make phone calls, and also block the number of SMS’s sent. Other option include parents can block certain contacts from adding and setup five names on the contact list as primary contacts that cannot be removed by the child.

The GPS on the device reports back the location of the child every 15, 30 or 60 minutes as set in the options to the child. It also has a option called geo fence that will send an alert to the parents when the child enters the restricted area. The Smartphone also allows the users to remotely wipe the data, if the device is lost or stolen. It also takes the picture from the front cam when the Phone is started.

Kurio Smartphone also has some other security features like, the parents will be notified when the child changes the SIM or powers off or Power on the device.

Commenting on the launch, Pieter Van Den Bosch, strategic director of KD said,

Kids want cell phones, but with access to this technology comes great responsibility. Kurio Phone includes additional parental controls to address safety concerns that come along with giving a child a mobile device, but they also promote the child’s independence and help foster an open parent-child dialogue. In fact, on the smartphone, the child will be able to monitor his or her own phone usage and see the parameters that mom and dad have set.

The Kurio Smartphone has a 4 Inch WVGA Display with 480 x 800 pixels resolution. It is powered by a multi-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage, which can be expandable up to 32GB via microSD card slot. It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and offers 3G connectivity.
